Oh, what a barren beauty lies
in the treeless vastess of these lands
and what a wealth of colour subtly dyes
the sighing of the passing cloud
over the rugged moors !
England, Spring 1996. I remember that day. An impromptu ballad on the Moors near Barnard Castle... Oh the breathtaking landscape!
And what a beautiful day. There was Tom, and Melanie, and Clare. Tom was rock-climbing while we, girls, mostly sat on the rough short grass and chatted around. I took loads of photographs, especially pictures of the marvellously creviced and weather carved rocks for Melanie's clay craft.
I remember ''chocolaty'', a word Tom coined. Melanie and Clare laughed, because, well, ''That's not a word!''.
Nigel was not with us, that day. But he was not yet gone.
